After 5 years, a debut EP, a live album and hundreds of concerts, sweeping large and varied audiences off and on their feet with the swing fever in numerous notable venues in Israel, France, the US, Canada, Kenya, Serbia and the Czech Republic in festivals such as the Marseille Jazz des Cinqs Continents Festival (FR), Safaricom Jazz Festival in Nairobi (KE), the Red Sea Jazz Festival and Tel Aviv Jazz Festival (IL); And after collaborating as a vocal trio with outstanding musicians such as Shlomo Gronich, Yoni Rechter, Shlomi Shaban, Marsh Dondurma, the Revolution Orchestra (IL), and recently even double billing with the legendary Manhattan Transfer, It’s now safe to say: The Hazelnuts are a rare musical phenomenon in the Israeli music scene.

Their tight and magnetizing vocal harmony turns the “Hazelnut sisters” (as they are called in Hebrew) to a unique musical instrument. Whether they’re accompanied by their vintage sounding band, taking the audience on a journey back in time to the good old days in the beginning of the Jazz era, or with their own original songs and inventive arrangements, combining the different musical worlds they come from, The Hazelnuts bring forth a strong and interesting female voice, with the 3 "sisters" being personally responsible for writing and arranging all songs.

בתום 7 שנים, 3 אלבומים ומאות הופעות שבהן הצליחו האחיות לוז להדביק קהל גדול ומגוון בקדחת הסווינג; לאחר שהשתתפו בפסטיבלים בארץ ובעולם כגון פסטיבל הג'אז של מרסיי (צרפת), פסטיבל סאפאריקום ג'אז (קניה), פסטיבל ג'אז בים האדום אילת, פסטיבל ג'אז ת"א; ולאחר שיתופי פעולה עם כמה מגדולי המוזיקאים – בין השאר שלומי שבן, שלמה גרוניך, יוני רכטר, מארש דונדורמה, תזמורת המהפכה ולאחרונה גם חלקו מופע עם רביעיית The Manhattan Transfer האגדית, כבר אפשר לקבוע בוודאות - האחיות לוז הן תופעה ייחודית בסצנת המוזיקה הישראלית.

ההרמוניה הקולית המוקפדת והממגנטת שלהן, הופכת את ה"אחיות" לכלי ווקאלי ומוזיקלי ייחודי. בין אם בלוויית הרכב הנגנים התקופתי שלהן, המעניק לקהל מסע קצר בזמן אל ימי תחילת הג'אז במאה הקודמת, או בשירים מקוריים הצורפים יחד את העולמות המוזיקליים המגוונים שכל אחות באה מהם, מביאות האחיות לוז לקדמת הבמה קול נשי חזק ומעניין.

כחלק מההרפתקאות חוצות הז'אנרים של האחיות לוז בשנים האחרונות אפשר למנות את ההצגה "סיפור אהבה בשלושה פרקים" בבימויו של נתן דטנר בה כיכבו האחיות בתאטרון הלאומי הבימה בשנים 2017-2018, את המוזיקה המקורית שיצרו וביצעו במופע הפודקאסט "סיפור ישראלי״, ואת אלבום האולפן האלקטרוני שהוציאו ב-2019 - The Birth of Hope.

Among their genre-crossing adventures in the past few years you’ll find the original score they wrote for the "Israel Story" live podcast show; the Israeli National Theatre (Habima)’s production of “Torch Song Trilogy” they’ve been starring in since Feb. 2017; and their sound installation at the “sensing sound” exhibition in the DMH Museum.

The songs were commissioned by the music-for-film company Artlist. The idea was to write songs that would sound as if the Hazelnuts lived in the 60s and were signed by Motown records. I very much enjoyed this challenge! Singing with me are Maya Pennington and Tal Suliman. Orr Sinay wrote the a-cappella arrangements with me. (the full band arrangement was provided by the Artlist team, you can hear the original a cappella versions in the EP as well!). I really Hope you enjoy!
